Hoban Washburne was in born in 2486 on a nothing little border moon called Lassek. Like the planet it orbited, Verbena, it was a planet full of factories - gray, dull, and so much pollution you couldn’t see stars. Wash was the second youngest of five children and the house was always loud, always bustling. And always full of love. Beyond plenty of teasing from his older sisters, Wash’s childhood was happy, if fairly uneventful.But early on, he knew he had a calling. Ever since he’d seen the ships at the local docks, he knew what he was supposed to do with his life. He was going to be a pilot. He was finally going to see the stars everybody raved about. So, at the ripe old age of 16, Wash entered flight school. He was a natural, quickly shooting to just about the top of his class. Despite a tendency to be a bit of a show off (and an argumentative, disruptive class clown), his instructors all raved about him: ‘That Washburne boy was gonna go far.’And for a while, he did. He took jobs as he could, flying transports, carrying cargo. Wash thrived. He loved every second in the Black and couldn’t stand being planetside more than he had to. He lived life from job to job, with no intention of settling in just one place. But then the inevitable war that had been brewing broke out.For his part, Wash wasn’t a fighter. Despite Independence leanings, he had no desire to go kill folk over it. So instead he took a job flying medical supplies for an humanitarian organization. He made drops to the folks who needed them most, didn’t matter which side. But one day, on a run to an Independence outpost, his ship was shot down by the Alliance - they didn’t take kindly to folks aiding the enemy. Wash spent the rest of the war in an Alliance prison camp. It was awful. But he had a knack for entertainment and kept his fellow prisoners upbeat with stories, jokes and a few old fashioned Bolognese shadow puppets.When the war was over, he was released and went back to his old life of taking whatever job could get him into the Black quickest. But that’s when things changed for good. He had an interview with a guy called Malcolm Reynolds. The ship wasn’t much to look at, but she had life in her. But what really drew him was the ship’s first mate, Zoe Alleyne. He was a goner the moment he laid eyes on her - and he took the job in a heartbeat. It took some convincing, but finally he won her over. They were married less than a year after they met.For a few years, he was settled and happy. Sure, he didn't always see eye-to-eye with Mal, and he and Zoe had their troubles like any married couple. But it was a good life, one he wasn't looking to trade just yet. But that couldn't last forever: once Simon and River Tam joined the crew, their lives took a more dangerous turn than usual. Darker forces than the average feds were on their tail. In the end, the crew was able to avoid the grip of the Alliance - but Wash didn't live to see it. He was killed before the final stand, heroically landing the damaged ship and saving his friends.Unbeknownst to Wash, Zoe was pregnant at the time of his death. She gave birth to a girl, Emma.

Wash is pilot of Serenity, happily married to Zoe. Times aren't always easy (or legal), but the ship and the crew have come to feel more like home than he ever expected them to.Set between the pilot episode and the film, 'Serenity.' All interactions are assumed to take place in this verse unless otherwise requested/discussed.

Finally giving up his wandering ways, Wash has recently joined the crew of Serenity as pilot. He fits in nicely -- and quickly falls for the first mate, Zoe, even if he and the captain don't always see eye to eye.Set during Wash's early days on the crew, encompassing the beginnings of his relationship with Zoe.

Having grown tired of the dusty planet where he grew up, Wash has finished flight school. Not quite suited to the cushy (but dull) Alliance jobs available to a man of his talents, he strikes out on his own. He takes piloting jobs as they come -- some legal, some not. He's not too picky as long as he can stay out in the Black. Maybe one day he'll settle down -- but not just yet…Set before Wash joins the crew and is working various freelance jobs. Takes some inspiration from various wash-centric comics.

Wash survives the events of the film, but was wounded in the crash. After the crew escapes the Alliance and Wash recovers from his injuries, life goes on. They try to lie low, but the rumblings of a new Independence movement soon pull them back in. Life gets even more complicated when Zoe discovers she is pregnant. Wash and Zoe go about raising their child, Emma, still navigating dangerous life in the Black.AU from THAT SCENE in the film. May incorporate some events from the subsequent comic series if desired.

Born and raised in a tiny town in Indiana, Wash always knew he wanted to fly. He was off to flight school as soon as he was old enough and spent the early years of his career as a commercial pilot, flying cargo or people as the jobs came. But eventually, he joined up with Malcolm Reynolds, a man who ran a transport company out of St. Louis. Their jobs weren't all strictly legal, but they got by. Wash quickly fell for - and married - Mal's VP, Zoe. The two of them live in a little flat near the rest of the folks working for the operation, doing what they can to get by.Modern day Earth verse. Request/Plotted only.

Born on Aerilon, Hoban Washburne was never one for sitting still. His parents were farmers outside of Gaoth, but he was never fit for that life. Too much dirt and land. Too much staying put. Once he was old enough, he went off to flight school on Caprica - they even tried to recruit him into the military, but that wasn't really his thing... He took jobs as they came, bouncing around the Twelve Colonies. After a while, he joined up with a Malcolm Reynolds. He and his first mate, Zoe Alleyne, were formerly of the Fleet and had a bit of a transport business going. Wash came aboard as pilot and quickly found himself crazy about Zoe. They were married soon enough and things seemed to be going well for the crew.Until the Cylons attacked. They were doing a job on Caprica. Mal and Zoe were off with clients, the rest of the crew tending to their own business. And then the planet was nuked. Everyone was scattered. Wash made it aboard a civilian transport just in time to make it out. He had no word from others. No word from Zoe. And so with nothing left to do, seemingly no hope left, Wash joined up with the Fleet. They needed pilots. And Wash needed something to distract himself from grief. But he fit in well enough. He was never the military type, but his skills were impressive. Soon, he'd earned respect and was a valuable Viper pilot aboard Galactica.

Wash was born on a small planet in the Outer Rim and joined the Imperial Academy to be a pilot. After discovering that life was not for him, he struck out as a freelance pilot -- until he wound up with Mal Reynolds and his crew…Essentially the same as his canon verse/backstory, but set in the Star Wars universe.
